    Day 1: Colombo – Arrival

    Arrive at Colombo International Airport, meet and transfer to hotel.

    Day 2: Colombo (B)

    After breakfast explore the city by wandering through the sprawling collection of ancient artifacts and colonial-era relics at the must-see National Museum, Old Parliament, beautiful Buddhist & Hindu temples, the historic Wolfendhal church, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, the New Parliament in Sri Jayewardenepura, the Folk Art Centre, Art Galleries, Parks, Independence Square, the Ceramic Corporation famous for its well-known brand “Noritake” and ODEL, the renowned shopping centre.  Return to hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

    Day 3: Colombo - Habarana (B)

    After breakfast, free at leisure. In the afternoon leave for Sigiriya to climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortess. After an ancient prince killed his father to claim the throne, he was forced to flee to his pleasure palace and convert it into a fortress to guard against his opposition. The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya built on a giant rock rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains below. This remarkable 5th century archaeological site is made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. A moat, rampart, extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock and the frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya.

    Thereafter, check in at the in Habarana.

    Day 4: Habarana - Kandy (B)

    After breakfast, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple; one of Sri Lanka’s many UNESCO World Heritage sites. consists of five caves and 157 statues of the Lord Buddha, as well as numerous paintings on its ceilings and walls. The history of the caves, the rock and the temple dates back to the 1st century BC. The fascination of these caves is not only the statues but also the many intricate and delicate paintings that adorn its many surfaces, created painstakingly with indigenous traditional paints. Because of its ancient history, as well as its archaeological and artistic implications, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991. The temple has been in use for over 22 centuries, and the sense of meditative peace is still palpable within.  Thereafter, proceed to the picturesque town of Kandy. En-route stop at a spice garden near Matale where you can see various spices and herbs growing and there is a chance to stock up on massage oils, spices and Ayurvedic medicines.  Upon arrival in Kandy, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic. The Tooth of Buddha was taken from the funeral pyre in 543 BC and only found its way to Sri Lanka in the 4th century AD.  Thereafter enjoy the Kandyan Cultural show at the Kandyan Arts & Cultural Centre. The show features the graceful and rhythmic dancers and drummers culminating in an impressive fire walking display.

    Day 5: Kandy – Pinnawala – Kandy (B)

    After breakfast, visit Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage, now home to about 60 elephants, many of whom are baby elephants that were found orphaned in the wild. They are cared for, fed and trained by wildlife authorities. Thereafter, return to Kandy for a tour around the city, where first you will stop by the Royal Botanical Garden, home to over 4000 species of plants.  Then experience a demonstration of Batik and visit a manufactory of Ceylon semi-precious stones which are famous in the entire world (The blue sapphire) prior to returning to your hotel.

    Day 6: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya (B)

    After breakfast travel to Nuwara Eliya via Kitulgala, en-route stop by the Ramboda falls.  Then continue to visit a tea factory to witness the process of producing tea, here you will get to taste a fine cup of Sri Lankan Tea.   Continue your drive to Nuwara Eliya and check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

    Day 7: Nuwara Eliya – Hikkaduwa (B)

    After breakfast, travel to Hikkaduwa, famous for its strong surf and beaches. Today is free to spend at leisure.

    Day 8: Hikkaduwa – Galle - Hikkaduwa (B)

    After breakfast, drive along the southern shores of Sri Lanka to Galle to visit 17 century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Turtle HatcheryGalle city on the southern coast is a must-see for colonial architecture buffs. Its main attraction is a 17th-century Dutch fort, one of the most extensive monuments left by European colonialists.  If you walk along the top of the walls at dusk, you will see dozens of cricket games, an old lighthouse, beautiful views of the town’s harbor and hundreds of Sri Lankans out socializing.  Within the fort, visit any of several old churches or simply stroll the narrow streets to get a good look at the old buildings.

    Day 9: Hikkaduwa – Colombo – Departure (B)

    After breakfast transfer to Colombo airport to board your homebound flight.
