Begin the day with a visit to the Basilica of Hagia Sophia, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture built by Constantine the Great and reconstructed by Emperor Justinian in the 6th century. Renowned for its massive dome and intricate mosaics, this iconic structure served as a church, a mosque, and now a museum. Continue to the ancient Hippodrome, the civic center of Byzantine Constantinople. This historic site features notable monuments such as the Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpentine Column, and the Fountain of Wilhelm II. Next, visit the Blue Mosque, famous for its six minarets and stunning blue İznik tiles. Built in 1616 during Sultan Ahmed I’s reign, it remains a symbol of Ottoman grandeur. In the afternoon, explore the Museum of Saint Irene, the first cathedral of Constantinople, located in the outer courtyard of the Topkapi Palace. Originally built in the 8th century, this structure was later used as an Ottoman arsenal. Proceed to the Topkapi Palace, the lavish residence of Ottoman sultans for over 400 years. Highlights include its courtyards, pavilions, the imperial kitchens, and the Treasury, with an optional visit to the Harem, a private section of the palace filled with stunning artwork and opulent décor. Conclude the day with a visit to the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. With over 4,500 shops offering jewelry, textiles, spices, and more, enjoy some free time to explore and shop before returning to the hotel.

    Istanbul (B)

Start the day with a visit to the Süleymaniye Mosque, an imperial masterpiece built by the famous Ottoman architect Sinan between 1550 and 1557 during the Empire’s Golden Age. Renowned for its grandeur and elegance, this mosque is a symbol of Istanbul’s rich architectural heritage. Next, visit the ancient walls of Constantinople at Mevlana Gate. Constructed in 413 by Emperor Theodosius II, these massive walls stood as formidable defenses, withstanding numerous invasions over centuries. The walls were breached only twice—by the Crusaders in 1204 and by Mehmet the Conqueror in 1453. Continue with a walk through the historic neighborhoods of Balat and Fener, once home to Istanbul’s non-Muslim communities. Stroll along the Byzantine land walls and the Golden Horn, discovering narrow streets, historic architecture, and vibrant markets. Highlights include a visit to one of Istanbul’s oldest synagogues and the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate Church. Afterwards, head to the Eyüp district to visit the Eyüp Mosque, an important pilgrimage site built in the 15th century. Conclude the morning with a cable car ride to Pierre Loti Hill, offering breathtaking views of the Golden Horn. Spend the afternoon at leisure to explore the city or relax.
